3 Ways To Stay Confident While Expecting

3 Ways To Stay Confident While Expecting

Easier said than done right? Trust me, I get it. I'm just here to say that we must find a way to!

confidence

  1. Carve time out for your appearance, health, and fitness. - I have found with all of my pregnancies that excuses are sooooo easy to make. No time for this, no energy for that. Each time they all made sense to me as well. This third time around however - even through the 15-16 weeks of constant nausea - I have vowed to take pride in my appearance, plan snacks and meals (as best as I can), and walk for at least 15 minutes/day. Whatever you can do, do it. Every pregnancy is different and so is every woman. Just remember that confidence is so much easier to maintain when you feel good and reach goals, however small they may be. fruit and veggie lunch idea
  2. Lean on other pregnant women. - Not everyone has the amazing, quintessential pregnancy. If you reach out to other ladies who are expecting, you'll find out just how 'not alone' you are. From nausea, to mood swings, to weight gain worries, to feeling like a failed wife or mom, there are tons of women who feel the same way. Get together, join forums, etc to find out the best ways of coping. It is important to remember that your pregnancy is temporary, and that you will begin to feel like yourself again just days after birth in most cases.
  3. Remember that it's a BLESSING to be expecting. If nothing else, find confidence in THAT! - I was politely humbled and reminded today of the many women who pay thousands of dollars per year to aid in fertility issues and conceiving. Having experienced loss before, I also know what it feels like to have your dreams shattered in that respect. Each day, try to be grateful for the experience itself if nothing else.

Of all of these tips one thing is for sure, confidence is certainly a conscious decision that expectant women must make. With or without the validation of others, decide to be confident, feel beautiful, and bask in the blessing that truthfully many women don't get to experience. I know that I will be from this day forward.

Humbly Yours,

Mrs. O.

Our 3rd Bundle Of Joy is A

Our 3rd Bundle Of Joy is A_______!

As most expectant moms know, the thrill of the gender reveal is truly a rollercoaster. While we all sincerely just want a healthy baby, there is an entire team of uncles, aunts, mothers, fathers, grandmothers, grandfathers in-laws and sometimes even husbands, that have their 'preference' of what they would like to see added to the family. With that being said, when you're on baby #2 or 3, the pressure is immense!

So needless to say, I am on my 3rd bundle of joy. I'm very familiar with ultrasounds at this point, so the moment I saw between the legs I knew what I was having. My bundle of joy is a BOY!

A pretty big boy at that for just under 19 weeks. He's currently measuring in the 90th percentile overall, and 88th percentile for his legs alone!

I am one proud mother of boys and anyone who knows me, knows this. At times I find that it just may be my calling in life. To raise strong, God-fearing, respectable, intelligent, loving children that will grow to be incredible husbands and fathers one day. So ladies, I'm challenging you to have those girls READY for great men!

While we have 1-2 more shots at the girl that everyone in my family wants *smile*,  I couldn't be happier bringing another handsome and healthy boy into this world. All hail the reigning Queen of the household for another couple of years!LOL

Little Ones And The Dentist

Little Ones And The Dentist

Yesterday I made my 2nd trip to the dentist with my 3 year old Cade, and my first trip for my 15 month old Beckham. The oldest, Cade, has always been my big, independent, responsible child, and I never have issues with him settling and cooperating. The youngest however - we're working on things LOL

After a little bit of research, I concluded early on that it is extremely important to begin good habit oral care as early as the first tooth. While you may not schedule a pediatric dental appointment, it is a great idea to use a scrubbing tool or soft baby toothbrush to gently clean the gums and teeth. There are also teeth cleansing baby products that are fine to be swallowed. Besides keeping the teeth and mouth clean, it establishes the following for your little one:

  1. Pattern
  2. Familiarity
  3. Good Hygiene

My experience at the beginning of the tooth-brushing stage has always been rough - getting them to let you inside their mouth, and when they finally do for a very short period of time - but once our first visit to the dentist comes around, you'll realize that your persistence has paid off. For the most part, they know what's going on and allow the Dentist to do their job. These days, it certainly helps that they give them cool sunglasses to block the bright light, and headphones with an animated movie to focus on.

Lack of oral care is one of the leading and most underrated health issues in our African American community youth, but it truly doesn't have to be. Your children are eligible for free dental cleanings twice a year just like you if you have health insurance. Even if you do not, look into free health programs that are oftentimes available for our youth.

It's up to us as moms to make sure that we teach our children young the importance of healthy teeth and hygiene. Don't be afraid, start at home and schedule an appointment!

Move over Cade, there's a new Big Brother in town!

Yes, I am expecting Baby #3 in late August, and my husband and I couldn't be more excited. Here are some photos from arguably our first official family photo shoot with the beautiful and talented Anedny Laubscher:

I must admit that I felt a lot of pressure to take a family photo finally, but seeing the result truly took my breath away. To see your family in one setting, smiling, laughing, and captured for keepsake is very special. I wasn't prepared for the joy that I'm feeling.

Congrats to all of the other expectant moms out there! I have secretly been praying with all of you and wishing you well 🙂
